New Delhi, Aug 17 : Adani Sportsline-owned franchise Gulf Giants on Wednesday announced their team for the upcoming International League T20 (UAE ILT20) that will be played in the United Arab Emirates between January to February 2023.The Giants have included some of the top T20 names such as the Australian’s Chris Lynn, West Indies Shimron Shetmyer from England, and Chris Jordan in their squad for the first edition of the league.
There are also the names of David Wiese, Tom Banton, James Michael Vince Dominic Drakes, James Michael Vince are included among other names which make up a part of the team.
Former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower, who has three decades of cricketing experience as the coach in charge of the team.
The 54-year-old was also director of the team of the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022.He had previously been a coach for national teams, England and Afghanistan, as also franchise teams like Punjab Kings (IPL), Maratha Arabians (Abu Dhabi T10), Multan Sultans (PSL), St Lucia Kings (CPL) and Delhi Bulls (Abu Dhabi T10).
“It’s thrilling to be participant of every one of the major franchise tournaments and the ILT20 is slated to become a major franchise event.As coaches, our responsibility is to help the players the best we can.This principle is extremely important to me.” Flower said.
The inaugural season of ILT20 will take place in 34 matches across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.Six teams in the league are owned by Reliance Industries Limited, Lancer Capital, the GMR Group, Adani Sportsline, Kolkata Knight Riders and Capri Global.
