While he acknowledged the ball’s potential tricks, he also believes it will be simple to score runs with.Taylor will be playing in the two Tests against India at Kanpur, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
This series also marks the beginning of the second World Test Championship (WTC2) for current title holders.
Spin plays an important role in your success.
While the new ball may not be able to do much, it can make scoring easier.India has world-class spinners who know how to put batters together in such conditions.
It will come down to picking lengths quickly and trusting your defense.
It can seem intimidating to begin your innings when there are so many men in the field.
We are not putting our bodies under any pressure at the nets.It is crucial to get past the first 10-20 balls.It’s a cliché, but it does get easier.It’s going be a huge challenge for us as a batting team to look forward too, Taylor said while responding to a question by IANS during a virtual conversation on Sunday.
Taylor declined to divulge much more about his strategies in countering Ravichandran Ashwin’s challenge.
Ashwin won the series by picking up 27 wickets, as New Zealand lost 3-0 to India in 2016 at home.
Ashwin has dismissed Taylor in Test cricket five times.
“I’m not ready to reveal my secrets yet.It will be fascinating to see which lineup India chooses.Axar Patel was a key player against England.
They will be playing three or two spinners.Ashwin will likely be one.These guys are excellent bowlers, even in the conditions they’re familiar with.The way we play them will play a major role in the outcome of the series.”
Taylor acknowledged that New Zealand cannot ignore the Indian pace attack to play well against spinners.This is due to the Indians’ mastery of the new ball, reverse swing and home conditions.
