Chennai 28 Aug : The home of an officer from the jail who is employed in the Central Prison in Cuddalore, was targeted on Sunday with Molotov drinks, in what police officials believe was a planned attack.The incident took place in the early morning when unidentified criminals set the official quarters of Manikandan who is the an assistant jailer in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
A town that is the district headquarters in the state of Tamil Nadu, Cuddalore is located 200km away to the south of Chennai, the capital city of the state.Chennai.
In the course of the incident, Manikandan wasn’t at home since he was in Thanjavur after taking medical leave.Family members including his parents as well as his wife and two kids, were unhurt according to police officials.
The incident is said to have occurred around three a.m.Sunday morning, when unidentified people were seen throwing the bottle of inflammable liquid into the kitchen through the grille of an open window and then set it on fire.The kitchen was totally destroyed in the blast.
In the moment, the family members of Manikandan were asleep in the jail’s quarters of M.Pudur, escaped and with the assistance of neighbors, put out the fire.Two bottles of inflammable liquid referred to as molotov cocktails was discovered in the outside of the home.
According to sources in the police, the incident could have been planned by one of the prisoners.
Numerous mobile phones were found from prison inmates during the search operation.
