Bengaluru 7 August : Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on the weekend that he was positive for Covid-19.He also announced the trip he planned to New Delhi has been cancelled.On Twitter, Bommai posted: “I have tested positive for Covid-19 with mild symptoms and have retreated at home.Anyone who got in contact with me in the past few days, please separate yourself and test yourself.The trip I planned to Delhi is in limbo.”
The Chief Minister’s good news is a relief for the state in the wake of Karnataka has reported 2,042 new Covid instances and 2 deaths in the past 24 hours.
At the moment, the total quantity of open cases in the state was 11,403.The daily positive rate was 6.32 per cent, the weekly positive rate 6.30 percent while the fatality rate for the week was 0.09 percent.
Bengaluru Urban district reported 1,309 cases while 175 patients were discharged.
The number of active cases was at 8,338, and one fatality was recorded in the last 24 hours.
Belagavi district (110), Dharwad (96), Mysuru (82), Hassan (61) districts had the highest amount of new cases, following Bengaluru Urban.
So so far, Karnataka has administered 11,66,46,496 Covid vaccine doses and 67.98,015 shots to prevent disease.
