New Delhi, Aug 22 : As the farmers began arriving at Jantar Mantar in the nation’s capital to hold their’mahapanchayat on Monday, huge congestion was reported near Delhi’s border as police constructed barricades to prevent any risky situation.In the midst of increased security for entry into Delhi traffic jams were observed at Ghaziabad, Chilla, Singhu, Faridabad and Tikri borders.
Delhi Police have put barricades at all the border crossings and all vehicles entering the capital city of Delhi is being scrutinized.
On Twitter On Twitter, the Delhi Traffic Police said have asked commuters to stay clear of Tolstoy Marg, Sansad Marg, Janpath Road, Ashoka Road, Outer Circle Connaught Place, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Pandit Pant Marg due to the farmers’ gathering.
The other major roads that are prone to seeing significant traffic include Sansad Marg Janpath, Outer Circle Connaught Place, Ashoka Road and Baba Kharak Singh Marg.
The mahapanchayat call was made by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) to protest against the state of unemployment in the Jantar Mantar.
Farmers from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and a host of other states are expected to send a letter to the President, urging their demands.
Police officers have been deployed throughout the capital city of the nation.
