By Samuel Baid London Sep 1, : Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is organizing a week-long event in England to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of charming Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who, after swearing to the Constitution of India to contest the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, died yearning to join Pakistan. But, his personal possessions, including his loose Pyjama or salwar made they were shipped to Pakistan as souvenirs.
The ISI uses the name of an organization called Tehreek-iKashmir UK to organize the Geelani memorial week.Tehreek-i-Kashmir is one of the organisations that the ISI has created in certain of the European countries to promote anti-Indian propaganda under the guise of advocating Kashmiris’ rights.
On the anniversary of the first death what kind of reference is made to Geelani’s memorabilia isn’t known, but one can keep one’s fingers crossed in the light of the way in which Pakistan offered its leaders. For instance Father of the country Jinnah died in 1948 in mysterious circumstances.
The country’s first president, in the 1956 Constitution was banished to London where he and his wife died.
The country’s first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan was shot dead in the public in the manner of the dog.The first Prime Minister elected democratically in Pakistan Minister Zulfiqar AliBhutto was executed in Rawalpindi in 1979.In 1979, the place of his execution was destroyed to ensure that it wouldn’t be an eulogy. What’s up with Geelani’s souvenirs?
Geelani was important to the ISI not because he was an agent of Kashmiris but because of his hatred for India as well as for his clever tongue that enticed Kashmiri youngsters for Pakistan as well as against India.
Pakistanis who watched Pakistan TV (PTV) went to bed each evening after hearing Geelani’s crowings against India.Every night, after the 8:30 news bulletin, PTV played Geeli’s old speeches.
Geelani’s call for Pakistan If he believed in it could be described as an ear in the wilderness.
On the anniversary of his death he is remembered for his paid-for campaign that had little impact, even on those who voted against India.
For instance, he was a loner in the Hurriyat Conference on the question of joining Pakistan.
In reality, Hurriyat Conference was not completely transparent about its goal.
It was reported that some of its members were frequently receiving large quantities of food from Pakistan.
They were greeted with a royal welcome when they visited Pakistan either in secret or openly.Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Yasim Malik once boasted that he was able to visit Pakistan whenever he wanted to.
Pakistan’s involvement in Hurriyat wasn’t for the benefit of Kashmir but to denigrate India and presenting the city (Hurriyat), in the world as the sole representative of Kashmir not the elected government of Jammu and Kashmir. However, the regular assembly elections in Kashmir made Hurriyat’s appearance insignificant.
The goal of the week-long program of paying tribute to Geelani is to present his image as someone in the global freedom movements. However, Geelani was a person who distinguished himself with his sharp tongue but not as a freedom fighter.
A message to Farooq Khan, the ISI officer in charge of Kashmir issues, is titled “Shaheed Syed Ali Shah Geelani – Remembrance is the hallmark of resistance of freedom movements around the globe”.The week-long programme will focus on the “Geelani’s fight for freedom in Pakistan”.
The letter calls for Kashmiris to purchase books by Geelani organize conference, corner meetings rallies, candle-light programs and music shows, and carry out initiatives for philanthropy and to establish research centers in Geelani’s honor.
In the midst of the revolution in green in India several years ago, an intelligent old jackal sown the bone of a goat and cried every night that when the bone grows and becomes an actual tree, we would all be freed from the lust for meat.
A number of young jackals who were entrusted by an old jackal daily soaked the bone for many years, but not even a blade of grass was spewed. The old jackal would howl every night , expressing the an elated hope of the bone growing.
Geelani destroyed the lives of young and bright Kashmiri youngsters by presenting Pakistan as their dream in their dreams.
