Tabu will play R&AW actor in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film”Khufiya”

Mumbai, Aug 29 : Filmmaker-director-writer Vishal Bhardwaj is set to reunite with his muse Tabu, who played key roles in ‘Maqbool’ and ‘Haider’, in the upcoming film ‘Khufiya’.It’s the first time Tabu appears in the same Vishal Bharadwaj film that is not inspired by an original Shakespearean play.
The first teaser of “Khufiya” was revealed on Monday during Films Day by Netflix.The teaser of the spy drama provides glimpses of the gripping, intense characters.

In a statement about the teaser release Bharadwaj stated, “Working on films that look at characters, people, relationships and conflicts is something I really love.”Khufiya” is an extremely unique film for me.The team has all worked hard to create an exciting slow-burning thriller, and with Netflix we’re excited to show the film to viewers across the world.”

The film is inspired by the novel ‘Escape To Nowhere’ by the former chief of the Counter Espionage Unit of R&AW, Amar Bhushan.It takes the viewer on an adventure of an R&AW agent, Krishna Mehra, who is assigned a critical task that requires her to choose between her dual identities as a spy and lover.

In her review of ‘Khufiya’, Tabu shared her”, Tabu said: “As an actor, I’ve always wanted to be part of various stories and narratives.Through the character I portray in Netflix’s Khufiya I’ve been extremely lucky to be able to explore an extremely distinct story.”

She added: “Working with VB (Vishal Bhardwaj) is always a delight and a satisfying experience.We’re very excited to collaborate with Netflix and introduce the film to the entertainment enthusiasts all over the world.”

The film also features Ali Fazal, who’ll be in action soon in “Mirzapur 3”; Ashish Vidyarthi who has a large fan base on social media due to his food-related vlogging videos as well as Wamiqa Gabbi who worked with Vishal for his short story in Prime Video’s anthology series “Modern Love Mumbai”.
