New Delhi, Aug 26 : Ghulam Nabi Azad in his resignation letter accused Rahul Gandhi for the demise of the party and claimed that proxies have been in the process of preparing for the presidency, and will be nothing more than a puppet.Azad claimed that they were humiliated, abused and vilified in the specially scheduled gathering of the extended Congress Working Committee meeting after their letter in support of changes in the political party in 2020 was signed by 23 party leaders.
In his resignation letter he declared, “Unfortunately, the situation in the Congress party has reached an impasse of irreparable damage that “proxies are being pushed up to assume the leadership of the party. This plan is likely to fail as the Congress party has been thoroughly devastated that it is irreparable. The “chosen one” is just a puppet hanging on string.”
He said that at the national level, the Congress has given up the political space that is available to the BJP and state-level spaces for regional parties.
“This was all because the party’s leadership in the last eight years have tried to put a non-serious candidate in the top of the party.” he alleged without using his name of Rahul Gandhi.
Azad said that in August 2020 , when he along with 22 other senior members, including former Chief Ministers and Union Ministers, wrote to Sonia Gandhi to flag the poor direction in the party The “coterie” decided to “unleash its sycophants at us and resulted in us being targeted, vilified, and humiliated in the most brutal manner possible”.
The veteran leader claimed that based on the directives of the group that manages the AICC today, his fake funeral procession was carried out in Jammu and the people who acted in this manner were celebrated in Delhi by the General Secretaries of the AICC and Rahul Gandhi personally.
“Subsequently the same group unleashed their goondas to physically attack the home of a former Ministerial colleague Sh.Kapil Sibal, who was representing you and your kin in the Courts of Law in connection with your supposed crimes of negligence and commission,” Azad wrote in the letter.
He stated that the only mistake committed by the 23 leaders who wrote that letter of worry for the party was that they identified the causes of the shortcomings in the party and suggested remedies for them.
