Despite having previously sent a similar letter in the past the state government is putting off in sending out the request, Diya Kumari alleged in her letter.

She stated that on November 10 last year the NTCA had submitted an assessment of feasibility to the state government for actions so that the process of declaring Kumbhalgarh and Todgarh Wildlife sanctuaries as tiger reserves could be started.

The state government must act in response to the report, and submit it to the Ministry of Environment and Forests together with its recommendations. However, as of now there has been no action taken by the Rajasthan government, she said.

The member from Rajsamand added that the reserve for tigers will provide a boost to tourism, employment, and biodiversity, as well as meeting the demands of the people of the area.

With this in mind, the idea of declaring the Kumbhalgarh Raoli-Todgarh region an tiger reserve must be taken up immediately, she said.
