Modi’s account, which has over 73.4 millions followers, was restored.
A tweet with the URL of PM Modi was sent before the account was reinstated.
It stated that “India has adopted Bitcoin as legal tender”.Officially, the government purchased 500 bitcoins and distributed them to every resident of India.
Minutes later, another tweet was posted, saying, “Yes this account is hacked by John Wick ([email protected]), We have not hacked Paytm Mall.”
We have open 24X7 communication lines with the PM’s Office.Our teams also took the necessary steps to protect the account once we were aware of the activity.Twitter spokesperson said that the investigation revealed no evidence of other affected accounts.
“Good Morning Modi ji, Sab Changa Si?,” Srinivas BV, the national president of the Indian Youth Congress, tweeted.
“Was the Twitter account of the Hon’ble PM shri #NarendraModi ji hacked? And promise of #Bitcoin !!” tweeted political activist Tehseen Poonawalla.

Earlier, in September 2020, the Twitter account linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal website and mobile app was hacked by an unknown group with a series of tweets asking followers to donate to a relief fund through cryptocurrency.
