Polling for the Grama Panchayat elections is continuing in the state of Andhra Pradesh.The polling will start at 7 am today and will continue till 1 pm.The counting will take place after 2 pm.
Elections will be held for 12 municipalities and Nellore Municipal Corporations.Polls will be held in Akividu, Jaggayyapeta, Kondapalli, Dachepalli, Gurjala, Darshi, Buchireddypalem, Kuppam, Bethancherla, Kamalapuram, Rajampeta and Penukonda municipalities.
Elections are being held for 36 sarpanch seats in different districts and 68 wards in different villages.
Polling is taking place in a total of 350 polling stations.Polling is underway for four panchayats in the Anantapur district.Police have placed stringent security.
On the other hand, panchayat elections are going on peacefully in the Guntur district.
Polling is going on for nine ward seats for five sarpanch seats.Large numbers of voters are flocking to the polling centres to exercise their right to vote.
The Election Commission issued a notification on November 3 for this election.Elections to the Gram Panchayats will be held on November 14, and the results will be announced on the same day.Polling for the previously cancelled ZPTC and MPTC seats will be held on November 16 and the results will be declared on November 18.
