Thiruvananthapuram August 8, : After getting found on the wrong side of the law the CPI-M’s president of the Kozhikode Corporation, Beena Phillip on Monday, defended her participation in an RSS event, claiming that she was there to attend an event for mothers.The Congress used this opportunity to attack the CPI-M.Kozhikode district Congress president K.Praveen Kumar said that the hidden nexus that existed between the CPI-M and the RSS was now in the public eye.
“Not just did the CPI-M mayor participate in the RSS scheduled gathering, she also criticised the manner in which kids in Kerala are treated by their parents.Participation in the Balagokulam meeting reveals the links between both the CPI-M along with the Sangh parivar have,” said Kumar.
But, Phillip claimed she has always maintained a secular view.”I have been educated in an Muslim management institute and I have the most positive of relations, even now.As a mayor I’m not able to show any kind of bias.The only thing I did was take part in a mother’s conference and am extremely disappointed to witness the media twisting the whole thing around the things I said.
Perhaps those who made the decision have a stake in the outcome,” said Phillip.
In response to a question about whether she had obtained the consent of her own party, CPI-M, to attend it, she said no, “as there is no instructions to me.As the mayor I will be attending many functions”.
All eyes are now on what the CPI-M thinks about this and in the next few days the official explanation could be released.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) had organized an event for mothers that was called Balagokulam in Kozhikode this week.It also invited the mayor as well.
