Ayodhya 18 August : In a surprising change people in Ayodhya have begun to oppose the building of the Lata Mangeshkar Smriti Chowk, which is being constructed in the memory of the legendary singer.At a meeting in the Maniram Das Chhavni in the presence of Mahant Kamal Nayan Das The saints were against the idea of commemorating the memory of the late singer in Ayodhya.
They demanded that the new Chowk should be named in honor of Acharya Ramanandacharya of the Ramanand sect.
“We do not have anything against Lata Mangeshkar , but her memorial could be constructed in another location.
Ayodhya is the homeland of the Ramanand sect, and the monument should be dedicated there,” the saints said.
The saints announced they will now write letters in this concern to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
It is possible to recall that the Uttar Pradesh government had announced a memorial for crossings following Lata Mangeshkar’s passing in February of this year.
The work on the memorial has already started.
According to sources the chowk will feature 10 metres of white sculpture of an’veena’ (musical instrument) at the center.
A pond with 92 lotus flowers constructed of stainless steel would feature the platform where the veena will be placed.
The pond will be equipped with a walkway for circulation as well as seven musical pillars that mark notes in music.
Lata Mangeshkar’s ‘bhajans’ be played over the pillars.
