Senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir said Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao has made a significant political error by announcing his candidacy from the Kamareddy constituency. He predicted that Rao would suffer his most substantial defeat in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Shabbir Ali, who hails from Kamareddy, said, “I was born and brought up in Kamareddy.I’ve both won and lost from the Kamareddy seat and stayed with the people.Kamareddy is not only my home but my heart and soul. The fear of defeat in Gajwel has brought KCR to Kamareddy.”
Shabbir Ali criticised Chief Minister Rao for not undertaking any substantial development initiatives in Kamareddy during his nine-year tenure. He said that the current legislator Gampa Govardhan failed to bring progress to the region, leading to public dissatisfaction.Shabbir Ali asserted that the people had already made up their minds to vote against Govardhan.
However, Rao’s decision to contest in Kamareddy was an attempt to defy public sentiment, but he would suffer the same fate as Govardhan and lose in the next elections.
Shabbir Ali also alleged that by choosing to contest against him, Rao had targeted not only a representative of Kamareddy but also displayed animosity toward Muslim leadership.
He highlighted his role in securing 4 per cent Muslim reservation during the Congress regime and his past electoral successes.Shabbir Ali believed that Rao entered the race to defeat him because his victory in the coming elections from Kamareddy was assured.
“KCR, who began his career as a passport agent, will once again descend to the same level,” Shabbir Ali said.
