Chennai 9th, Sep : The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Company (Tangedco) will solicit tenders for the installation of underground cables in the four major temples in the state which include Tiruvarur, Suchindram, Madurai and Srivilliputhur temples.Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji recently announced that the department was in the process of creating a detailed report (DPR) for the installation of underground cables in the vicinity of these temples.
The underground cables will be laid near to these temples in the streets which temple car celebrations are held.Numerous tragic incidents that involved the mast head of temple cars colliding with overhead electrical wires has resulted in electric shocks and the death of people.
“While underground cables are set to be laid in the next few days for the four temples mentioned, other temples are also in place where underground cables will be laid” one senior Tangedco official told IANS.
Tangedco officials also stated that a sum of 22 crore has been allocated to lay underground cables connecting the four temples.
