San Francisco, Aug 28 : After changing the name of the Duo video chat application to Meet Google, the tech giant Google has restored its initial Duo logo and its name as a distinct shortcut that is displayed in the launcher for the app.Google has decided to merge its two video-calling services into one , and decided to select “Meet” as the new brand, as reported by 9To5Google.
The Google Duo app is the only one still in use in the sense of implementation.It is also being upgraded with the new home screen and other features of both services.
Duo has a considerably greater installed base.This could explain this, as per the report.
At the beginning of August the update began rolling out that removed the blue Duo icon and introduced the four-colored Meet version.After the update and opening the app Duo is gone from the launcher.
The giant has said that it deliberately returned the Duo icon with this update for Android.It’s intended to help those who search or type “Duo” to start the app.
The company said it’s making the upgrade simpler for users who are not professionals.
In the past, the company introduced new features such as meeting scheduling, joining and even organizing virtual backgrounds, chat in-meeting as well as more in along with the current video-calling features following merging Duo and Meet.
