Azamgarh (UP) Azamgarh (UP), Aug 22 : Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, on Monday visited Azamgarh to meet with SP MLA Ramakant Yadav who is lodged in jail.Ramakant Yadav is in jail in various matters, including the fake liquor scandal.
Since the MLA is the main element in Azamgarh, Akhilesh Yadav’s meeting with him is connected to 2024’s Lok Sabha elections.
In a press conference following the meeting with Ramakant Yadav Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the BJP government was deliberately involving SP officials in fake cases.
He said that the case in which he was imprisoned in the past 20 years was more than 20 years old.
The discussion between Akhilesh Yadav and Ramakant Yadav was for nearly an hour.
Akhilesh Yadav’s absenteeism during the Lok Sabha by-elections in June was heavily criticized due to the fact that Azamgarh was the SP chief’s seat in Parliament prior to when he was forced to quit in March of this year.
Akhilesh Yadav had endorsed his son Dharmendra Yadav as his candidate for the party but the latter was defeated by the BJP’s Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua.
