A tense atmosphere prevailed in Ukraine as Russia declared war on it.With this, the family members and relatives in India are worried about the Indians in Ukraine.They are appealing to the government to bring them back home safely.
It was during this sequence that Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar was told by the student’s family members that students from the district were trapped in Ukraine.
Kadari Sumanjali, a student from Karimnagar, was trapped at the Borispiril International Airport near the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.Along with her, 20 other students from the district were also said to have stayed at the airport.
The parents asked the MP if they had been repatriated safely.
In this context, Bandi Sanjay provided information to Indian Foreign Minister Jayashankar.
Sumanjali, a student from Karimnagar, along with her friends (Srinidhi, Ramyashree, Likhita) said students from different parts of Telangana were trapped in Ukraine.He said the four students had booked tickets for an Air India flight (AI-1946) to return to India.
But, by the time they arrived at the airport, the authorities had closed the airport, resulting in all of them being stranded at the airport.With this they stated that they were in a situation where they could not go out.He, however, requested the Indian Embassy to take the initiative to repatriate Telangana students safely to the state.
In response to Sanjay’s letter, officials from the Foreign Ministry said they had begun consultations with the Ukrainian government.
He said steps would be taken to ensure that all students return home.
