Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently made some controversial remarks about depression, calling it an “urban concept” and suggesting that it is only experienced by people in cities who have more money.Siddiqui, who comes from a small town in Uttar Pradesh, claimed that people in villages do not suffer from depression and that they are generally happier.
He mentioned that he only became aware of issues like anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder after moving to the city.
In an interview with Mashable India, Siddiqui stated that depression does not exist in villages and that if he had told his father about feeling depressed, he would have received a stern reprimand.
According to him, people in villages do not understand what depression is, and even in difficult circumstances, they find joy in simple things.
The actor referred to depression as a “disease” and argued that it primarily affects those who have a lot of money.
He contrasted the experiences of laborers and homeless individuals who, despite challenging conditions, continue to find happiness in their lives.Siddiqui emphasized that these mental health issues are prevalent in cities where people tend to magnify even the smallest emotions.
It is worth mentioning that Nawazuddin Siddiqui is currently busy with the promotion of his upcoming film ‘Jogira Sara Ra Ra’.However, he has been dealing with personal difficulties due to a legal battle with his estranged wife, Aaliya Siddiqui.
