New Delhi, Aug 29 : To facilitate the process of Indian citizens from all over India with regards to International Driving Permit (IDP) the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued a notice.The size, format color etc.of the IDP issued differs in different states in India.This is why many Indian citizens are having issues with their individual IDP in different countries.
With this change in the notification that was issued on August 26th The size, format and colour.for IDP has been made standard to be issued across India and in accordance with the Geneva Convention.
A QR code that can connect the IDP with the driving license is also included.A comparison of the vehicle categories in different Conventions as well as the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, has been added to facilitate the work of regulators.
Helpline numbers and email addresses have been made available.
India as a signatory of the Convention on International Road Traffic of 1949 (Geneva Convention) must issue IDP in accordance with this Convention and to accept the use of the same on a reciprocal basis with other nations.
