Assam government extends the retirement time of 99 employees in recognition of outstanding services

Guwahati 5 Aug : Assam government has awarded 99 of its non-gazetted employees with awards for outstanding service to the citizens by prolonging their retirement by one year.
In the end, 10 state-level employees and 89 district-level employees were awarded with the Lok Sewa award which carried the cash prize of Rs 25,000 each with an entire year of service extension.

The recipients will be retired when they reach the age of 61.

In a statement the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the day is being celebrated as Lok Kalyan Diwas as a gesture of reverence to Gopinath Bordoloi, the first Chief Minister of Assam.

“Assam is extremely grateful to Lokpriya Goroloi.Because of his exemplary work that Assam is now free from the status of East Pakistan, which is now Bangladesh.

“Bordoloi played a crucial role in defeating the plans of the Cabinet Mission Plan.If the plan had been successful the geography and the historical background of Assam would have been different today.” Sarma said.
