Srinagar 15 August : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant.Governor Manoj Sinha said on Monday that the days of fear, militants and corruption are gone in the Union Territory.
In his address to the principal Independence Day function at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket stadium in Srinagar the Lieutenant.Governor raised the national flag and gave the salute during the march-past.

The L-G declared that the days of fear of militancy, corruption and terrorism are gone in J&K.”Nobody will be displaying the Pakistani flag in Kashmir today.Everyone will be displaying the national flag, for that the residents of J&K are proud and affection,” he said.

He declared, “In this Amrit Kaal Khand we must all strengthen our determination to create an unflinching, corruption-free, and free of terrorism Jammu and Kashmir, one J&K that our forefathers imagined of where violence is not allowed and where religious and social harmony is the foundation of the society and where women as well as children, teenagers and the elderly poor, and underprivileged have the same rights, enjoy an excellent life and are equally involved in India’s development journey”.

The contingents were smartly arranged of the executive police J&K police armed, CRPF, SSB, female contingent of police, IRP, Fire & Emergency Services, Forest Protection Force, Pipe & Band contingents, NCC & Student contingents from 14 schools of District Srinagar in addition, Civil Defence Department participated in the parade.

Artists of the academy of culture and other groups besides students presented colorful cultural programs amid national patriotic songs as well as local popular songs that brought large applause.

Multiple layers of security arrangements were created around the parade venue.

All high-rise structures around the venue were equipped with sharpshooters on top to keep rebels from disrupting the festivities.

Sniffer dogs, drones , and high-tech electronic equipment complemented the surveillance of humans that was multi-layered provided by paramilitary forces, police as well as detectives of the intelligence wings.

Reports of flag-raising ceremonies parades, cultural programs and flag hoistings have also been reported from other districts’ headquarters of the UT.

So far, no suspicious incident has been reported anyplace, except for an unknown explosion in Nar Balakote village of Mendhar Tehsil in Poonch district.

Officials claimed that a mysterious explosion took place however there was no loss of life, though one vehicle was damaged.

The flag-raising ceremony was not disrupted when the local Sarpanch carried the flag of the nation at the local Panchayat building.
