In a latest report where all the State Chief Ministers assets were compared, Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy topped the chart with a total assets worth Rs.510 crore.The report was issued by Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), a NGO run by professors of Indian Institute of Managment, which aims at stengthening democracy in India.
The ADR report analysed the election affidavits of all the chief ministers in India.
Jagan Reddy owns movable and immovable assets to the tune of Rs 510 crores, more than the cumulative assets of all CMs combined.ADR claimed that it prepared the report after analysing the self-sworn poll affidavits of all the 30 current chief ministers of states and union territories.
The ADR report showed Jagan is followed by Pema Khandu who is the CM of North-East state, Arunachal Pradesh and his assets are worth Rs 163 crore.Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik owns assets worth Rs 63 crore.
On the other hand, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has emerged as the ‘poorest CM’.Mamata’s net assets stand at just Rs 15 lakhs.She has zero immovable assets and is the only CM in India with assets under Rs 1 crore.With only Rs 1 crore assets, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan claimed the second spot in the ‘poorest CM’ list.
Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao topped the charts in high liabilities worth Rs 8 crore.The value of KCR’s total assets is worth Rs 23.55 crore, said the report.A total of nine chief ministers have declared that their liabilities are worth Rs 1 crore and above.
All together, out of the 30 chief ministers, 29 of them are crorepati while 13 CMs have declared that they have serious criminal cases against them including attempt to murder and kidnapping.West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee stood last in this chart with the value of her assets being worth just Rs 15 Lakh.
It is interesting to know that the richest Jagan Mohan Reddy seems unsuccessful to bail out the debt ridden Andhra Pradesh from the mounting revenue deficit.The plight of the state can be estimated with the government employees are protesting for every month salaries.The public debt of Andhra Pradesh has hit Rs.3.89-lakh crore in the financial year 2021-22, registering an increase of almost ₹40,000 crore compared to previous year, accounting for 32.4 per cent of the Gross State Domestic Product.
The market borrowings stood at Rs.2.64,837 crore in FY22.The high amount of debt has been increasing the interest burden on the State which is at about Rs.22,000 crore.
