In advance of Abhishek Banerjee’s ED appearance, Trinamool accuses BJP of misuse of Central agencies.

Kolkata 2 September : Just before the General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress’s national office Abhishek Banerjee’s appearance in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday to be questioned in the coal smuggling fraud The West Bengal ruling party launched an admonition against the BJP and the Union government for “misusing Central agencies”.
On its Twitter account on Twitter, the All India Trinamool Congress has called the Central agencies “puppets” as well as “parrots” of the BJP.

“It is an issue of great shame that the Central agencies are reduced to being #PuppetsOfBJP.When BJP is in danger and they unleash their “parrots” on people who haven’t given up their sense of honesty,” the tweet said.

In a different tweet in a separate tweet, the Trinamool Congress leadership also recalled the way the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had criticized the politicization of Central agencies while he was Gujarat Chief Minister.

“CM Modi – Politicalization of CENTRAL agencies is commendable! PM Modi is’misusing’ central agencies to suppress opposition.

PM @narendramodi, we have a long history of defeating the forces of division.The tactics of intimidation of #PuppetsOfBJP will not work.The fight is on,” the post read.

In the meantime, Banerjee reached the ED’s office in Kolkata’s Salt Lake area at least 10 minutes earlier than his scheduled time of 11 a.m.on Friday.

The whole area in and around the CGO complex which is where CGO’s office is situated, is covered with a blanket security cover that is two-tier.

There was no entry for outsiders into the complex, with the exception of employees who required to show their identification cards prior to stepping in.

The inner circle of the security cover was manned by central army personnel, and the members of the Bidhannagar City Police were in charge of the outer circle.

ED sources claimed they have a group of five officers from the agency have been specially brought in from New Delhi to question Abhishek Banerjee.

He is the nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

It is the third time he is being investigated in the connection with the fraud.

Abhishek Banerjee was in two appearances before the Department of Education’s New Delhi office, first on September 6, 2021, and the following day on March 21, 2022.

In the final questioning, he was interrogated for eight hours.
