San Francisco, Aug 19 : Just four months after launching its much-anticipated , pocket-sized drone camera Pixy, Snap is scrapping the development of its flying drone technology, reports in the media declare.Snap CEO Evan Spiegel told employees at an open Q&A session on the decision to not create the Pixy line according to The Verge and the Wall Street Journal, The Verge reported.
A source has told the publication that the company is planning to offer the existing Pixy model, and the model is still available to purchase from the Pixy website.
The report noted that, in an interview Spiegel was rumored to have suggested that the firm could think about a second version.
“The purpose is getting it in the hands of others and let them play with it” he was quoted as saying.
“And maybe we’ll develop even more with Version 2 if people like the first version,” it added.
Pixy is believed to be a device that fits in your pocket and will help you create better content.
When it was launched in April, Snap claimed that the drone camera could automatically crop portraits and apply rapid Smart Edits such as Hyperspeed, Bounce, Orbit 3D and Jump Cut.Users can then upload the image via Chat, Stories, Spotlight or any other platform.
