CDS helicopter crash: Naik Jitender Kumar is cremated in MP

Bhopal (12/12/IANS) Sunday’s final rites for Naik Jitender, the victim of the December 8 Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopter accident in Tamil Nadu, saw him die along with Gen Bipin Rawat, India’s first Chief Of Defence Staff (CDS) and eleven others.
Many people gathered in large numbers to remember the fallen soldier who belonged to Gen Rawat’s security team.

It crashed in Tamil Nadu near Coonoor, killing Madhulika Rawat, the CDS and Naik Jitender, all eleven others, including Naik Kumar.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Sing Chouhan arrived at Dhamanda village in order to pay tribute to the martyr and announced a Rs 1 crore assistance to his family.

Sunita Verma, Kumar’s spouse, would get a job in the government, and that education would be provided by the state to both his daughters (one daughter) and son (one).

After paying tribute to Kumar, Chouhan stated that Sunita Verma’s husband Naik Jitender Kumar will get a job in the government and that a school named after him will also be established.

Earlier on Sunday, wrapped in a Tri-colour, Kumar’s mortal remains were received at Raja Bhoj airport in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal with full military honours.

A Guard of Honour was also given before his body was taken to Dhamanda village.
