New Delhi, December 29, : , Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Durga Sankar Mishra was appointed the Chief Secretary for Uttar Pradesh ahead of next year’s Assembly elections.This is according to an official statement.After Rajendra Kumar Tiwari’s superannuation, he will assume control on December 31.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has informed that Mishra was a UP cadre IAS officer of 1984 batch and has returned to his home cadre.
The order states that the Cabinet Appointments Committee has approved the repatriation of Durga Sankar Mishra (IAS: 1984), to his cadre in his proposal for appointment as Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh, by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh.”
Mishra served various important positions at Centre as well as the UP government throughout his career.
He was the Principal Secretary to Appointment and Personnel as well as Secretary for Tax and Registration and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare.
Before he was appointed as Union Housing and Urban Affairs Secreary, he also served as Aadditional secretary in that ministry, Joint Secretary in Ministries of Mines and Home Affairs, and Chief Vigilance Officer of India’s Airports Authority of India.
