They will issue guidelines for the establishment of “Chaupals” (village-like gatherings) as well as “Sanskarshala” (morals classes), where jawans can speak freely to senior officers and share their concerns.

The proposed Sanskarshala will teach security officers moral lessons.

This will help to foster healthy, friendly relationships between senior-juniors and reduce the number of suicides in the force.

Officials also stated that all field formations will have a Sanskarshala and that the Welfare Department of the Force has been working to develop the necessary modalities for these initiatives.

According to an official, these classes will promote morality among senior and junior officers, while the Chaupal will regularly be organised to hear the individual problems of jawans working in units.

Kuldeep Singh, Director General of CRPF sought the advice of troopers and junior officers to reduce negativity within the force.

He also wanted healthy relations between junior and senior personnel.A jawan from the field formation suggested the Sanskarshala concept.

The suggestion was made by the jawan (whose identity was not revealed by the force), who said that incidents such as fratricide suicide or scuffle were common in field units, which ultimately tarnished the image of force.

The CRPF organizes yoga classes every day and also offers professional counselling.

They said that they are looking to recruit counsellors.

This initiative comes after incidents of Sukma fratricide in Chhattisgarh on November 8.A suicide by a trooper at Kathgodam (Uttarakhand), on December 10 in Gariaband, Chhattisgarh and another case of Fratricide in Telangana in which a Sub-Inspector was killed by a Havildar. He later committed suicide.
