Actress Mrunal Thakur played the role of a police officer for the first time in her career in the recently released Hindi film “Gumraah”.The film, a remake of the Tamil film “Thadam”, features Mrunal as she tries to solve the murder of a young man, with the police capturing two lookalike men for the crime.Directed by Vardhan Ketkar, the movie also stars Ronit Roy and Vedika in the lead roles.
“Gumraah” released on April 7, 2023, on the occasion of Good Friday, but it had a poor opening day, earning only ₹1.10 crore domestically. The movie’s opening day numbers were shared on Twitter by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who emphasized that a miraculous turnaround on Day 2 and 3 is needed to save the movie.
Mrunal Thakur responded to a Twitter user who stated that they had already seen the original Tamil version of the movie and were not interested in watching the Hindi version. The actress requested the user to watch the movie for her and her co-star, Aditya.
Her fans appreciated her gesture, with one fan commenting that it was “out of the world”.
Although the crime thriller has some well-executed action sequences and dialogues that unintentionally provoke laughter, it tends to drag on like an extended episode of a television series. The romance detour in the first half of the film makes it like it’s a whole other film.
Last year, Mrunal made her Telugu debut with “Sita Ramam”, starring opposite Dulquer Salmaan. With “Gumraah”, she has added another feather to her cap, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
