New Delhi, Aug 7 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was the chairperson of the meeting of the NITI Aayog Governing Council on Sunday, demanded every state to concentrate on the promotion of its “3Ts” (trade tourism, trade and technology) by establishing every Indian Mission across the globe. He stated that the states should concentrate on reducing imports and boosting exports and finding potential opportunities to do the former.”We must encourage consumers to purchase local products wherever feasible,” he said.”Vocal for Local” is not the focus of any one political party but rather a shared purpose, he added.
The PM stated that even although GST collection has increased, the potential is much greater.”Increasing GST collection requires a collective action from both the Centre as well as the States.It is essential for strengthening our economic position and transforming into an economy with a value of $5 trillion,” he said.
Regarding the National Education Policy, the PM stated that it was developed after a lot of deliberation and that we must involve all participants in its implementation and come up with an explicit, time-bound roadmap for it.
In expressing his appreciation to the CMs and LGs for taking part in the gathering and sharing their thoughts as well as experiences, he said that NITI Aayog will research the state’s concerns as well as the challenges and best practices, and determine the best way ahead.
The issues that are discussed in this session will determine the priorities of the nation in the coming 25 years, he said, adding that “the seeds we plant today will determine the fruits that will be harvested by India in 2047”.
