Kanpur, Nov 26th : .New Zealand reached 129/0 in 57 runs on Friday’s second day of the Test against India at Green Park Stadium. New Zealand is still trailing India by 216 runs, after India had all but finished for 345 in the lunch session.
Both openers from New Zealand were nervous in the first stage of their innings.
They were able to survive the first spells of Umesh Yadav’s and Ishant Sharma, though there were some close calls.
Latham was able to survive an appeal from Sharma in the third over, but DRS showed an inner edge onto the pads.
New Zealand beat India by 345 runs in 111.1 overs earlier on Friday, thanks to Tim Southee’s 13th five-wicket run.
India’s silver lining was Shreyas, who scored his maiden Test hundred with 105, while Ravichandran Ashwin, who played a counter-attacking knock at number eight, got 38, in addition to half-centuries from Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja.
Iyer resumed from 258/4 with two boundaries after Jamieson’s first over.
Southee, starting his eleven-run show from the other end, broke the 121-run stand in the second over.Jadeja clung on to his stumps with little feet movement, leaving without adding to his overnight score.
Iyer, however, was not perturbed and took another boundary by steering through Jamieson.
