The issue of new districts coming into existence in AP from Ugadi has also become a topic of discussion in Telangana politics.Names given to districts have become a hot topic.
Recently, Telangana Congress senior leader V Hanumanth Rao demanded that the Kurnool district be named after former chief minister Damodaram Sanjeeviah.To this end, he wrote a letter to Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy.He re-called the services rendered by Sanjeeviah.
Recently, senior Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy reacted to the formation of new districts.
Shashidhar Reddy recalled that his father, the late Chief Minister Marri Chennareddy had formed three new districts in joint Andhra Pradesh.He commented that it would be a good decision to take the parliamentary constituency as a basis and ensure that the district centre is accessible to the people of all regions.He cites Rayachoti and Puttaparthi as examples.
He said that after a thorough study, all steps have been taken to prevent any trouble to the people and the attitude of the AP government in this regard is commendable.
He lauded the decision to set up Sreesatyasai district as the center of Puttaparthi.He also indirectly commented that the AP government had earlier studied the difficulties that would arise if Hindupur, which borders Karnataka, was made the district headquarters.
Marri Shashidhar Reddy criticized Chief Minister KCR for not doing any reviews on the formation of new districts in Telangana and for completing the process in a hurry.He said that people are getting into trouble because of it.He said the formation of districts was done to weaken the opposition parties and the TRS had set up districts to increase its strength and grip.
