Chennai, Nov 14, : .Officials said that heavy rains in Tamil Nadu have hampered the vaccination drive against the Covid-19 pandemic, which was being carried out by the state’s health department.
As rains have inundated many parts of Chennai since past Sunday, the vaccination drive has taken a beating and the state health department is planning mega vaccination camps to vaccinate those who are yet to take the first dose.Rains inundating many areas of Chennai this Sunday has caused a severe disruption to the vaccination drive.

The state health department is now planning massive vaccination camps to give the first dose to those who have yet to get it.

Also, many who were scheduled for their second doses of vaccine have also not inoculated themselves.Many who were due to receive their second dose of vaccine are not yet inoculated.

However, the mega vaccination camp on Sunday at 50,000 places is expected to raise the number of vaccines, said health department officials.

Officials from the health department said that the massive vaccination camp at 50,000 locations on Sunday is expected to increase the supply of vaccines.

The rains and festivals have dampened the vaccination drive and the state would need to vaccinate 8.2 lakh people to achieve its target to vaccinate the whole population with the first dose of vaccine by November end.To reach its goal of vaccinating all the population by November, the state will need to have vaccinated 8.2 lakh people.
