Pak Journalist Anas Mallick secure in Kabul is safe, according to envoy

New Delhi, Aug 5 : Pakistani journalist Anas Mallick, who disappeared in Kabul has been found “safe” Islamabad’s ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmed Khan confirmed on Friday.
On Twitter on Twitter, the Ambassador wrote: “Regarding reports about Pakistani journalist Anas Mallick, I’ve had a conversation with him on the phone for a short time.He is in Kabul and is safe.Embassy will stay in contact with the Afghan.”

Mallick was in Afghanistan to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the country’s annexation by the Taliban Mallick, who was in Afghanistan to cover the first anniversary of the Taliban’s takeover Kabul on Wednesday.

He was missing the next day after recording a report about the safehouse in the Afghan capital, where Al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed in an US drone strike.

Also , on Twitter on Friday, the journalist tweeted, “I am back” without providing more information.

In the meantime the Pakistan Foreign Office has also confirmed Mallick being “safely returned” in Kabul.

The Office had previously expressed concern about the disappearance of a person and stated that it was in contact with local authorities as well as the Pakistan Embassy in Kabul to ensure his “early and secure return”.
