New Delhi, Aug 7 : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday attended the meeting of the governing council of Niti Aayog in New Delhi.The meeting was headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He also emphasized the need for digital supplementary methods of teaching.
Discussions in depth were held about the possibility of self-sufficiency in agriculture and diversification of crop production, as well as the implementation of the national education policy as well as urban bodies in their administration.

The Chief Minister announced that the government is implementing the Rs 1,010 crore Himachal Pradesh Crop Diversification Scheme in all districts.A budgetary allocation has been made to encourage the cultivation of mushrooms, particularly’shitake and the ‘dhingree’ variety.

Thakur stated that 31,584 orchardists were covered under government-sponsored schemes while 4.15 lakh orchardists were covered through centrally-sponsored schemes in the last four and five years.

He stated that in order to increase the earnings of farmers, 3,909 panchayats of gram have been included in the Prakritik Kheti Khushal Kisan Yojna.He added that farmers have saved around the sum of 9.75 millions by changing to natural manure instead of chemical fertilizers.

He stated that 10 points of sale have been established in the state in addition to Delhi and Chandigarh for the sale of natural agricultural products.

“Efforts are underway to boost production of oilseeds, pulses, and other agricultural products to ensure self-sufficiency with the aid of modern technology.”

Thakur demanded the Prime Minister to provide five DTH channels to Himachal Pradesh out of 200 channels that were announced under Swayam Prabha.These channels will be able to broadcast educational programs of high-quality.

He stated that the gross percentage of students of primary middle and high schools in the state is 100 percent, while it is 85.6 percent in the case of senior secondary schools.

The percentage increases to 98.8 percent when technological institutions are included in the senior secondary.

He said that girls receive education and a free residence as well as skill training in 14 Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools.

He said that the database of education is being digitalized in the state , and capacity development of teachers is taking place to create high-quality study materials in digital format.

The Chief Minister stated that students have access to institutions of higher learning, and the infrastructure is being strengthened.

Sardar Patel University in Mandi district has been operational beginning in April.

He said that the average of the state’s gross enrollment percentage in higher education was 40.8 percent, which is higher than the average national figure of 27.1 percent.He added that the number of scholarships in different categories and merit scholarships of boys and girls is also increasing.

The Chief Minister stated that the state is determined to strengthen the management of urban authorities by filling the necessary posts and increasing efficiency in providing speedy and efficient services to the citizens with the aid of the most modern technology.
