Elon Musk sends another notice to Twitter to halt the $44 billion deal

San Francisco, Sep 10 : Tesla CEO Elon Musk has sent an additional notice to Parag Agrawal’s Twitter that aims to end the $44 billion deal to buy Tesla.
In the most recent letter filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission Musk’s legal team has cited Twitter’s multi-million-dollar severance payout to the former security chief and whistleblower Peiter “Mudge” Zatko.

According to The Verge, the notice was sent to Twitter’s chief legal officer Vijaya Gadde.

“On June 28th, 2022, Twitter signed an agreement of separation with Peiter Zatko pursuant to which Twitter paid severance compensation to Zatko and his counsel , totalling $7.75 million,” the notice said.

Musk’s lawyers used this as another reason to end the deal.

The Tesla CEO is also trying to get more time with the court in order to start the Twitter trial, scheduled for October 17 The court will hear testimony from Zatko.

Musk’s legal team offered a new schedule that would move the trial’s duration to the end of November.

Zatko is scheduled to testify before the US Congress on September 13 regarding claims he made against the micro-blogging site.

The previous Twitter security chief claimed that Twitter was misleading authorities regarding its security procedures and the actual amount of bot accounts.

Zatko was also served with an order by the legal team of Musk to appear in deposition on the 9th of September in the ongoing suit between Twitter and Musk.

Musk has stated that the evidence of Twitter whistleblowers justifies his reversal of the deal worth $44 billion that he signed to buy the micro-blogging site.
