Chennai 10th, September : Actor Jayaram who plays the pivotal role of Alwarkkadiyan Nambi in director Mani Ratnam’s forthcoming magnum opus”Ponniyin Selvan,” recently revealed a hilarious incident that took place during the time he was filming for the film.In the trailer and audio premiere of the film held in recent times, Jayaram said: “It was the final day of filming and a major sequence was planned to be shot.The film was to feature a huge number of performers were expected to take part in the shooting day and the director Mani Ratnam was busy.
“I was in the same caravan with actor Prabhu as we shot for the film.Around 4.30 in the morning, I heard a loud voice calling my name.It was the actor Prabhu.
“He said”I have two food packets in this house.One for me, and the other one is for you.We should eat now since we’re unlikely to get food throughout the day.’ I said to Prabhu sir, “It’s 4.30 in the morning sir.What is the best way to have breakfast at this time?”
“Prabhu sir said, ‘You will not have time to eat until tomorrow.’ I got out, walked and returned and told Prabhu sir about having inquired to Mani Ratnam to take an opportunity to eat and that he told me they would shoot only one shot and that, after the shot there would be enough some time over an additional couple of hours to take a break and have refreshments.
“Prabhu sir was convinced that there would be a break to enjoy refreshments, based on the fact that director Mani Ratnam himself had stated that.
“Shooting began at 6 am the next morning , and continued and on.The hours passed, but there was no indication of any break.In the morning, at 10 a.m.I heard Prabhu sir moaning”I am starving Mani.’ But there was not a break.At the time, it was 2 in the afternoon There was not a break.I hid in the corner to stay out of the view of Prabhu sir.”
