Seoul, December 30, 2018 : .Hwang Donghyuk is the director and writer of the popular Korean survival drama Squid Game.
He has spoken out about the future plans for his Netflix hit series.Dong-hyuk suggested that there might be two additional seasons to the thriller series in a recent interview.Aceshowbiz.com reports.
Dong-hyuk spoke with KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) and said that he was in discussions with Netflix regarding Season 2, “as well, as season 3.”
He continued to say that “We will reach a conclusion anytime soon.”
Dong-hyuk said: “We are aware that so many people wait, so everybody is hard at work to prepare for next season with a positive outlook.”
Netflix also confirmed these claims the next day.
The streaming giant stated that they are still discussing many possibilities, but not all of them have been ruled out.
Dong-hyuk revealed that he was working on Season 2 stories back in November.The writer-director stated that he has a basic storyline in mind for Season 2.He also said this during an exclusive screening.It will come, one day, but I can’t tell you when.
Dong-hyuk did not really reveal much information about Season 2.He did confirm that Season 2 would be about Seong Gi-hun, Lee Jung-jae, and his investigations into the villains of the deadly tournament.
The “Squid Game” debuts on September 27th.It tells an unorthodox, imaginative story where 456 contestants put their lives at risk in a survival game that involves multiple rounds of childhood games.This is for the chance to win 45.6 Billion won.
It quickly became a worldwide phenomenon.
After reaching 111 million viewers in less that a month, it was named officially the largest Netflix show launch.
In around 94 countries, “Squid Game” is also on Netflix’s Top 10 List.This dystopian series is the first Korean-language show to be No.The US ranked the show at No.1.
