New Delhi, Sep 12 : The Varanasi court on Monday ruled that the Hindu petition to worship in Shringar Gauri was maintainable and the appeal of five Hindu women seeking the right to pray in the Gyanvapi complex will be considered.
“Muslim petitioners could appeal to the Allahabad High Court in appeal,” petitioner Sohan Lal Arya said, adding that they would continue to fight the case.

Here is the chronology of this case:

1998: Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee approached the Allahabad High Court that the temple-mosque land dispute was not able to be settled by a civil court since it was not allowed by law.The High Court granted stay to the proceedings for 22 years.

2019 The case was revived after a plea was filed for the benefit of Swayambhu Jyotirlinga Bhagwan Vishweshwar as the deity’s new close friend in the Varanasi court to have an inspection by ASI in the area of dispute.

2020: Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee opposed the petition for ASI surveys of the whole Gyanvapi complex.

2020: The petitioner contacted the lower court to request hearing to resume of the hearing of the petition filed in 1991.

March 2021 The Places of Worship Act 1991 was considered by a Supreme Court bench headed by the then Chief Justice S.A.Bobde.The petitioner was Ashwani Upadhyay.

August 2021 Five female Hindu devotees submitted an application in the Varanasi Court to worship the gods Hanuman, Nandi, and Shringar Gauri within the Gyanvapi complex.

September 20, 2021 Allahabad High Court said that the court should be waiting for a decision in the ongoing cases of the case.

April 2022: In response to the petition submitted in August 2021 the Varanasi district court appointed the court commissioner and a videography study of the entire complex.Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee challenged the decision in the Allahabad High Court which affirmed the lower court’s order.The Masjid Committee also filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court.

May 6 2022: The videographic study of the building began.

May 12 2022 The court has named senior advocate Vishal Singh to oversee the investigation.He was appointed special court commissioner.The court ordered them to provide details of the survey on or before May 17.

May 14-19 2022: The survey was repeated and carried out over two days.All survey results were presented in an account to the court.

May 20 20, 2022: The case proceeding was transferred to an administrative judge by the Supreme Court.

May 26 2022 The district court started with the hearing of the petition for maintainability of the case.

June 21 2022.Varanasi civil judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar who granted the order for the video inspection of Gyanvapi mosque was transferred to Bareilly.

July 11 2022 July 11, 2022: July 11, 2022: Hindu petitioners in the Gyanvapi case decide to establish a trust with a new name called Shri AdiMahadev Kashi Dharmalaya Mukti Nyas.

July 18 2022 The Supreme Court agreed to list an appeal for “puja,” “darshan” ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey and carbon dating conducted by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) of the Shivling purportedly discovered in the Gyanvapi mosque’s ablution area in an order by the court to conduct a survey.

August 24 2022.Varanasi Court reserved its order until September 12.The court allowed both parties to finish their arguments.
