London 10th Sep : Pace bowler Jofra Archer is expected to soon return in England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) scheme of things, with the 27-year-old tearaway quick being “invited to an upcoming winter training camp” this month to begin his return to the Test team after multiple injuries setbacks in the past year.The beginning of this year was marked by Archer recovering his elbow and then suffering an injury to the back.
However the report in the Daily Mail said on Saturday that the pace bowler was “nearing the possibility of a comeback and will return to gentle bowling” and that the ECB will not be rushing his return.
Archer began rehabbing his right elbow in the beginning of 2022 following an operation late last year.
One day prior to his scheduled return in June, he picked up a stress fracture in his back.
The report also stated that Archer is expected to be match-fit “by the at the end of the season, notwithstanding any other setbacks”.
The report added that the ECB aren’t putting any timeframe for the return of Archer, but Archer might travel with the team to Abu Dhabi “on a pre-Pakistan Test tour gathering in November that will also include England Lions players heading for Sri Lanka in early 2023”.
