Shiv Sena Leader’s SOS to CM, DyCM – ‘Stop dancing, stop suicides of farmers’

Mumbai 6th September : The leader of the Shiv Sena’s farmers Kishore Tiwari on Tuesday slammed the coalition government of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Bharatiya Janata Party Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis for the record number of farmers who committed suicide this year in Maharashtra.
With the grim situation in mind in place of taking on the agrarian crisis that has taken on a symbiosis of proportions ministers and the officials of the Shinde-Fadnavis government are “busy dancing” in different areas, claimed Tiwari who is chairman of the Vasantrao Naik Sheti Swavlamban Mission (VNSSM).

“This year could be the most severe in terms of suicides in the field. From January to date, an astounding 1,050 farmers have lost their lives, and the most severe period began in July-August when it is the most productive monsoon season for crops,” said Tiwari, on a tour of various villages that have been affected.

“Rather to inform the leadership at the top of the tragedy of the farmers ministers such as Gulabrao Patil and Abdul Sattar, or leaders Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Navneet Kaur-Rana and others were seen dancing or taking part in “fugdi” at various celebrations in the past few days .” Tiwari said.

In the last week, more than 2 dozen farmers have taken this extreme step, presumably under the pressure of large debts owed by local micro-finances vendors or micro-lenders however, no action was initiated by the administration or political leadership.

“In many villages I am visiting there is no official from the state who has visited family members of farmers who have committed suicide and the residents complain that they haven’t received any assistance despite exaggerated claims by the government as well as ministers.” protested Tiwari.

In his remarks, he said the Shinde-Fadnavis regime has made bold announcements about aid, however, the reality at the grassroots is quite different, and “the grieving families are furious that they have been not being treated with respect in their moment of desperate need”.

Presently, he said the worst-hit by suicides are Amravati, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Bhandara and Wardha district in the eastern region of Vidarbha and, in the month of August (August), Yavatmal alone was responsible for 40 deaths.

The VNSSM chief complained that the Shinde Fadnavis government is committed full-time “to strategies for winning the upcoming elections” while scores of families who have been hit by suicide in the state are in mourning over the joyous celebration of Ganeshotsav.

“I urgently request the CM and DyCM to stop politicking and pay attention to the suffering of the farmers in the grip of the agricultural crisis. In the end the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shinde have both said they will ensure that the state is free of suicides of farmers.

You are now in the position of power, so make good on your pledge,” said Tiwari grimly.

In the coming week over the next week, the VNSSM director plans to visit various Vidarbha districts to gain an insider’s view of the current situation with crowds of people gathering in every village he visits.
