Zuckerberg, Sandberg not to depose in Cambridge Analytica scandal lawsuit

San Francisco, Aug 27 : In relief to Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg The top Meta executives will not be deposing in a lawsuit over the Cambridge Analytica scandal, after the social network reached an outside-of-court settlement with the plaintiffs.
The depositions were expected to begin on or prior to September 20, and Zuckerberg was required to respond to questions for as long as six hours while Sandberg could be facing as long as five hours of deposition.

The deposition was a part of an action brought in an California court on behalf of Facebook users who were affected by Meta’s association with Cambridge Analytica.

According to The Verge, Meta and the plaintiffs have come to an agreement and have requested the stay of 60 days in order to finish the written agreement.

The lawsuit claimed that Facebook had illegally shared user data with third-party.

In the Cambridge Analytica scandal, Facebook gained access to the private information of more than 67 million Facebook users and used it to determine the identity of voters.

Sandberg has resigned from her position as Meta’s Chief Operating officer after 14 years of being the company’s highest in-house executive.

Meta has named its chief growth officer Javier Olivan as the new CEO.

Sandberg will remain an Meta employee until September 30, at which point she will remain an active board member.
