New Delhi, Aug 22 : Bemoaning the increasing “unfortunate and dangerous” trend of targeting judges in the public domain Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday stated that the value of judges as well as respect for the judiciary are unbreakable because they are the foundations of the rule of law and constitutionalism. “Dignity of judges is key and is one of the essential components of the rule of law and Constitutionalism.
The current unfortunate, nefarious trend of attacking judges in the public domain requires an extraordinary level of confinement.Bar members of the Bar and the media also have an important role in this process,” stated Dhankar who is designated a senior advocate in his speech at a dinner hosted by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to congratulate him.
Additionally, he said an independent justice system is the best way to protect democratic values.
In his remarks, Dhankar also acknowledged former Chief Justice R.M.Lodha, the former Supreme Court Judge, Justice G.M.Singhvi and Justice Vinod Shankar Dave who played a key part in his development.
In the course of the event at the event, Chief Justice of India N.V.Ramana also addressed the humble beginnings of Dhankar.
“He would walk for six miles from his village to go to his school.
Through it all, he maintained live contact with his roots.The simplicity and the perseverance that are synonymous with rural life and his daily routine, are his constant friends,” he said.
