It will allow Twitter to improve its direct messaging tool and make the app more useful.

Nick Caldwell, Twitter’s general manager for core technology, described Quill in a tweet that announced the deal.

Caldwell stated that they are bringing their creativity and experience to Twitter to help make messaging tools like DMs more useful and expressive so people can have conversations on the site.

Quill will close, but its team will join Twitter.

Users who wish to export their team messages histories will also be able to do so until December 11 at 1 PM PT.

Quill was founded with the goal to improve human communication. We are disappointed in the communication tools we have today. We will continue to pursue our original goal of making online communication more thoughtful and more effective for everyone, Quill stated in a blog post.

Parag Agrawal, the new CEO of Twitter, stated that his top priority is to improve execution and streamline the operation of the micro-blogging platform.

Agrawal, who was making his first appearance since replacing Jack Dorsey at Barclays technology conference, stated that the company had “operated previously in a functional structuring where we had one engineering organisation, one design research organisation, as well as product teams that were merged into them.”

The new CEO of Twitter has already begun to restructure the company, and two top executives have already resigned as part the reorganisation plan.
