Jakarta, Nov 25, : , Indonesia plans to end exports of raw materials within the next few years after the country’s current ban on nickel ore shipment.President Joko Widodo stated that Indonesia will not export raw materials during the 2021 annual meeting here at Indonesia’s central banking, Xinhua news agency reported.
The president stated that nickel was the starting point.”Maybe next, according to calculations, (we might) stop bauxite imports.We may also stop copper exports in the next year.Then, we may also stop tin exports in the next year.
The president stated that all of these raw materials should be exported as semi-finished goods and finished goods, because we want added value.
Widodo, who was accompanied by top officials from the country, stressed that the plans are designed to increase investment in downstream industries in Indonesia which will provide more opportunities for Indonesians.
