Bengaluru 12 August : Karnataka Health Minister Dr K.Sudhakar on Friday demanded that people take part in this Azadi Ki Amrit Mahotsav make a take a pledge to donate their organs, which could become the “amrit” of someone’s life. “Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will also sign the organ donation pledge.I, as with others from the government will make a pledge with CM Bommai during the ceremony that will take place on Saturday.” he said at the press conference held in the city.
“We call blood donation a great donation.
However, I’d like to go one step further and say that organ donation is the most effective donation.Even the Prime Minister Narendra Modi also has appealed to the people of India in one of his Mann Ki Baat addresses.”
The minister also announced that an awareness program will be held, where the human chain is created starting from Bengaluru’s Mekhri Circle to Freedom Park on Saturday , to commemorate the World Organ Donation Day.The human chain is expected to comprise of over 5,000 people which will include youth, students as well as ASHA workers to show the unity of individuals, he added.
Additionally there are other people from the area of health as well as medicine will be in the form of kidneys on the Tripura Vasini’s grounds from 8 to 8.15 a.m.to create awarenessof the issue, Sudhakar said.
Additionally, CM Bommai will be honoring family members who donated organs of their loved ones who have been declared brain dead in a ceremony that will take place in Vidhana Soudha.In addition those who were recipients of the organs will be sharing their thoughts about the event, he added.
Demanding Karnataka to be an example in organ donation, Sudhakar said that is pleasing to see people come forward to make a pledge for this.
“Even Puneeth Rajkumar’s eye donation given vision for five people.
Organs of actor Sanchari Vijay helped save five eyes,” he added.
