Tony Blair Institution is one of India’s top 15 NGOs that aid Tripura with quality education

Sujit Chakraborty Agartala (November 21st, INNS) Tripura will be supported by the Tony Blair Institution in London and fifteen of India’s most prestigious NGOs.They are committed to providing quality education and smart management of academic systems.

While academicians generally welcomed Tripura’s decision not to involve NGOs in improving the quality education, they demanded that the government disclose specific tasks and financial obligations.

Ratan Lal Nath, Tripura’s Education Minister, stated that the government of the state would sign an MoU with the institution.

Tripura would benefit from the Tony Blair Institution’s reform of State Council of Educational Research and Training and District Institution and Education and Training.

Nath stated to IANS that the program would teach global communication and make students 13-17 years old global citizens.

According to him, many programs have been implemented by the state government over the last 44 months.These include the implementation of the Central Board of Secondary Education Curriculum and the introduction of English to large numbers of schools to allow students to reach not only national, but international standards.

Tripura has a total of 5,000 schools and 403 private universities.More than 7,06,000 students attend these schools.

According to the Minister, the state had previously engaged 16 NGOs including the Tony Blair Institution to improve the education system and provide high-quality education for school students.

We selected India’s 15 top NGOs through several processes.

Some of them were already working and we signed MoUs.

Nath gave details about the tasks and responsibilities of each NGOs.

Nath stated that “Voice 4 Girls”, a Hyderabad-based NGO, would teach girls safety and hygiene and the Cheshta Care Foundation would help with storytelling.

Vision Empower in Bengaluru would train teachers on how to help blind children.

Sterlite Tech Foundation in Mumbai would offer competency-based teaching and assessment, integrating technology into classroom instruction through the setting up of smart classes.

Minister stated that Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, would strengthen the Tripura Board of Secondary Education.

It would provide leadership training and academic support.The American Indian Foundation, New Delhi would also share its knowledge on child protection policies for hostels and the setting up of Learning Resource Centres.

According to the Minister, most NGOs receive funds from the Central government as well as various corporations under the Corporate social responsibility scheme.Therefore the Tripura government will have to spend little money on these services and knowledge.

According to him, the Tripura government will soon implement a new program called ‘Mother on Campus.This allows mothers to stay in government-run hostels with their children.

He said that the new system would allow students, especially girls students, to focus on education.Students would also feel less lonely in hostels.

Mihir Deb, an academician said the scheme was welcome if it can enhance the quality education without putting extra burdens on parents or guardians.

The government should clearly define the conditions and responsibilities for engaging NGOs in education.In school education, there are many deficiencies.Deb stated that there is an acute shortage in teachers and inadequate infrastructure.

Deb also suggested to IANS that the government must take care of these issues.

Abhijit Bhattacherjee, an academician, expressed gratitude for the government’s efforts.

He said that students in Tripura will be able to reap the benefits of the involvement of NGOs and learn advanced skills.

The learners benefit from the exchange of ideas and knowledge, as well as sharing current facts and information.
