NSO Report: Andhra Pradesh’s literacy worst!

Telangana state is also below the national average.

The National Statistical Office (NSO) has released an education report recently.Kerala, as usual, topped the list with 96.2% literacy rate.Apart from Kerala, five other states are well above the national average of 77.7%.The National Capital Delhi follows Kerala with 89% and Uttarakhand (87.6%), Himachal Pradesh (86.6%), and Assam (85.9%) are at respective places in the top 5 list.

On the other hand, both separated states in the Southern region, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are well below the national average.While Telangana has an average of 72.8 percentage, Andhra Pradesh recorded worst in the list with 66.4%.Till now, Bihar is said to be the worst in terms of literacy rate, however, in the present list, Rajasthan and AP have degraded than Bihar.

Meanwhile, after successfully topping the list, Kerala has also succeeded in reducing the literacy gap between male and female.According to the report, the gap between male and female literacy in Kerala is as low as 2.2%.
