Guwahati 29 Aug : Lok Sabha MP from the Barpeta district in Assam, Abdul Khaleque has claimed that Mughals gave India a map and even called it ‘Hindustan’ noting that he is proud of the Mughals.The Congress leader claimed that the nation’s Independence struggle was not possible without the Mughals.
In a jibe at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa , he declared: “Our chief minister has an allergy to Mughals.Yet, he too claimed that Delhi was the capital of India from the Mughal period.Even though he is uncomfortable expressing this out loud, it’s the truth.”
The Congress MP claimed that the Mughals constructed monuments such as the Red Fort, and the Taj Mahal in India and consequently their contribution to India should not be overlooked.
Khaleque’s comments came following Sarma was adamant about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that Delhi has been the capital of India since the Mughal times.
The Lok Sabha MP also said that every Prime Minister of the nation has been raising the National Flag at Red Fort on the day of Independence Day.
“If we don’t like Mughals so much, then lifting the Tricolour at Red Fort should not be the best option,” he added.
