Dubai, December 30, : , The International Cricket Council (ICC), announced Thursday that England’s Tammy Beaumont, Nat Sciver and Smriti Mandhana, as well as Smriti Mandhana, the Indian opener, and Gaby Lewis, the nominees, for the ICC Women’s T20I player of the year. Smriti Mandhana, India’s opening batter was one bright spot in a year where they won only two T20Is.
Smriti Mandhana was a key part of India’s first win, scoring 48 runs off 28 balls.She also scored 113 against South Africa in the last T20I.
India avoided a sweep thanks to this win.
Mandhana, India’s best run-scorer against England in T20I with 119 runs, didn’t get enough support from other batters.India’s highest-scoring player in all matches, except for the 51-ball 70 in which India lost.
Smriti managed 255 runs over nine matches, scoring an average run of 31.87 and two half-centuries.
Gaby Lewis, an all-rounder from Ireland, had another great 2021, and was the second highest run-scorer for T20Is.With a strike rate 128.45 and an average of 325 runs, she scored 10 T20I runs with 40.62 at 40.62.Her century was one-and-a-half centuries.
Lewis, a twenty-year old player who was awarded Player of the match twice during Ireland’s series victory over Scotland at home won the award.
Lewis was the first woman from Ireland to achieve a T20I 100 at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifiers in August.
Tammy Beaumont, the opener was England’s top run-getter for the T20Is in 2012 and the third highest overall.With three full-centuries and an average 33.66 runs per match, she scored 303 runs.
Beaumont won the Player of Series award for her 102 runs scored in a series against New Zealand.After losing two powerplay wickets, England’s second match saw Beaumont score a 53-ball 63.
Nat Sciver, another England cricketer played an important role in the series victories this year.She was their third highest run-getter in T20Is and also took wickets.
Sciver was the first T20I player on tour in New Zealand.She dismissed Sophie Devine inside the Powerplay and Amy Satterthwaite outside the Powerplay.
She came in as No 3 and batted well, getting England over the line.Her modest goal of 97 was achieved later.
She helped to clean up the tail by taking two wickets in the second match to bring New Zealand down to 123.With three other players, she finished with five wickets.
In the T20I’s first T20I, India was touring the country.She scored a half-century run and picked up an England wicket during the 18-run victory.
To help her team win the series, she also took a decisive knock of 42 in game two.
Sciver had 153 runs scored in nine matches, an average 19.12 and one fifty respectively; 10 wickets averaged 20.20 each with an economy rate 6.51
